As a Boomer/Millennial, I am late to the game of online blogging. This is my first post and I want to start an online journal of changing my procrastinating habit of 20+ years.
In fact, most of my adulthood I have been procrastinating. No, I am not a lazy person that just sit home and leech on my family to survive. In fact, I am quite hardworking and always helpful to family, friends and co-workers. I have a wife with two young kids and I take my responsibility as a father and a husband seriously. It is just that I never execute on my plan to improve myself and better utilize my potential. May be I am a little harsh on myself, but I just always feel like I am not living up to the standard I hold myself to.
However, even with this procrastinating habit, I still on the path to reach the “standard” Financial Independence in 5 years. In fact, as long as I am making $30k per year, I have no problem supporting my family, as long as the job provides health benefits.
So, why start this blog?
I have read some blogs of the F.I.R.E movement. Millennial-revolution, Mr. money mustache, Root of good and Mad Fientist. I have followed through some of their methods of becoming Financial Independence. It is working for me and I am almost there. But I do not feel like I am accomplishing and I am uncertain what I want to do next. In short, I am not finding happiness as I thought I will.
So, I dug deep and trying to find something I was passionate about, which is getting back to programming. With my current work experience as a analyst, I set a goal to become a data scientist, or as close as I can get in the data science/analytics world.
However, I struggle to balance my life between work, family and study. Not because I can’t find the time, but I procrastinate constantly and keep getting things done in the last minute and trade-off my sleep time. So I starts this website to document my journal as frequent as daily, and to experiment if online journal can help me change the procrastinating habit – in real time.
I am not a good writer so you will probably find a lot of grammatical errors. Hopefully by posting frequently I can also improve my writing.
Day 1– Not getting any study done. Not getting a lot of work done either. But at least I started my first blog….. (C.Y.)
